London Marathon
May 2014
After 4 months winter training, covering over 470 miles, our joint Managing Director Peter Macfarlane completed the 2014 Virgin London Marathon in a PB of 4:18 and 23 seconds. Raising over £2200 for the charity Sense. A really delighted Peter confirmed that it is not just his first marathon, but his only marathon. He would like again to thank everyone who supported him making it such a special day and a great result for Sense.

Spectrum has formed a Joint Venture with Berg & Co Solicitors to provide Debt Advisory services to companies in the property sector. This will include advice on re-banking, fund raising and asset management. Berg has a specialism in advising clients on interest rate products.

Spectrum has teamed up with Craig Mellor, formerly of Opal, to form a new vehicle, Spectrum Student Living Ltd. Through this venture, Spectrum aims to provide a focused and experienced asset management and financing solution to the student sector with a view to attracting opportunities as follows:
• Management Contracts on both well-established, underperforming and development stage student accommodation schemes in the UK.
• Development Opportunities for new student accommodation projects in major cities in the UK and potentially wider Europe.
• Investment Acquisitions of existing student accommodation schemes and projects for active management / improvement – identification of underperforming assets for acquisition through our network of contacts.

Modus asset management arm relaunched as Spectrum

David Lockhart and Peter Macfarlane, the former directors of the Modus asset management arm, have completed a buy-out and re-branding of the business as Spectrum Property Management.
Spectrum will continue to manage a commercial property portfolio of around £450m as part of the deal. It includes investments across the UK, including shopping centres, supermarkets, retail and leisure parks and office properties. The business is also focused on generating new opportunities for investors.
The main fund under management is the Alpha Fund, which was established in 2005. It has now been rebranded as the Spectrum Alpha Fund.
The Spectrum business continues to be based in Manchester.
Modus's asset management arm and the various property funds and investment portfolios under its management were unaffected by the administration of Modus Ventures business in May 2009.
New lettings at Cineworld Scheme, Cardiff

Spectrum on behalf of the Spectrum Alpha fund continue to agree new lettings at the Cineworld scheme in Cardiff to Hooters of America and Flaming Dragon.
