Sustainabilty - The Environment
We believe that future success will be dependent on the creation of sustainable centres, initiatives and business that will be of lasting benefit to society. Maintaining local identity is pivotal to our plans. This could be through the use of materials or symbols that define the area, or the reinforcement of local provisions and pastimes.
Climate change is a key concern and we will continue to strive to achieve carbon neutral status for all centres through design and by the use of renewable energy. We continually strive towards goals such as ensuring none of our waste of packaging ends up as landfill by looking for new ways to reduce, reuse and recycle.
We make sure that all key raw materials come from the most sustainable sources available, so that we help to protect the environment and world’s natural resources for future generations.
We also recognise that whilst new technology has a part to play, it is the fundamental every day actions that can really make a big difference such as turning the lights off, controlling heating and air con better, painting areas white and upgrading insulation. Spectrum believe if we all undertake to complete these simple actions, we will be able to make a difference especially given that the majority are low-cost or no-cost at all. All staff at our centres are encouraged to follow these initiatives.
